Introduction
to YiQuan
Correspondence
Course
|
The
international correspondence course has been launched
in February 2000, transmitting course materials through
e-mail, and interact through the bulletin board on current
site. Before that, only Chinese version correspondence
course were available in China mainland, and Hongkong.
It gives for all of us interested in YiQuan, to exchange
point of view in YiQuan, and get mutual benefit
for further training. This course is a great support
for my teacher, master Yao, to spread his great art
more quickly, and more effectively.
The course receives an increasing interest in all part
of the world, like some course students always said,
'excellent books', 'really great', 'wonderful photos',
thanks, for supporting and help by these friends. Most
of correspondence course students confirm getting benefits
from this course, describing as an a easy way and low
cost to approach yiquan.
Thanks Kalisz: you have translated the course files,
thank you Bert: you help to revise the translation.
And thanks you too, all course members, you support
such a new style of course, thanks for your trust.
--- George . March 2002.
The
International correspondence course has just been revised
and completed from his first edition in February 2000.
The Third Part and the Fourth needed further translation
and additional color photos with Master. Now it's done
after long hours of photos taking with Master Yao Cheng
Guang. All photos, included in Part1 and Part2, have
been replaced with the lastest photos of Yao Cheng Guang
himself. A particular effort has been done to increase
the detail of each movement, especially for exercises
with steps where we included sometimes more than twenty
photos to clarify these valuable exercises. Thanks to Master Yao for his constant efforts to improve
the quality of teaching materials. |

YiQuan Correspondence
Course (English Version)
The course delineates the all training process step
by step, but one must know, this course is not Yiquan
itself, you must add your own wisdom and training, only
then you can get your own Yiquan. This course is the
finger which points to Yiquan itself, it tries to point
out the training way as direct as possible, and get
rid of any unnecessary stuff. It seems succinct, but
in fact, it contains the achievements of millions wise
persons in thousands years. In these pedagogic materials
Yao Cheng Guang emphasizes on combat effectiveness but
also in retransmitting to his students the same knowledge
that his own father taught him. The way of Yiquan training
opens into the ultimate realm of life. So please don't

FAQ of YiQuan Correspondence Course
Q: What the YiQuan training correspondence course is?
A: The Yiquan training correspondence course includes 6 parts, currently published 4 parts. Each part includes twelve modules and each module includes between four or five lessons. Master Yao recommends for average students to learn each part of his correspondence course during about one year. But you can learn it quicker if you intensify your self training (but please note that a minimum time is required between each lesson, your overall yiquan progress depends also on your "internal" physical building up progress). Another recommendation of Master Yao is that you can invite one or more friends to learn yiquan with you, it will helpful for those sparring and combat training such as Tui-shou, San-shou. There's no limitation you can show printed training materials to your friends, but you shouldn't distribute them in any circumstance, please consider this carefully and thanks to preserve our rights.
Q: How can I get these training Yiquan correspondence course?
A: The correspondence course books will be mailed to you by air directly by Master Yao. as soon as he get payment notification by Paypal. If you have any problem to receive it. Please contact directly, we will check your status and resend to you if necessary. It's not an e-business, but a course use Internet as a communication tool only.
Q: How can I learn YiQuan through course books?
A: Read clearly, ask questions through
forums if you don't know how to do it or directly to Master Yao Cheng Guang. Please note that you should learn a little for a day, you do not need tot read too much, because what you need is experience of the art, you should learn YiQuan through practice but not theories. The best is to complete these courses with Yao Cheng Guang training VCDs collection
or
DVDs
collection. The VCDs collection is in Chinese, but the movements are demonstrated by Master Yao himself, in detail so that you can reproduce the posture very easily,
Q: Can I study from some other books of YiQuan after I have joined the course?
A: No. I suggest rather not. The art of YiQuan can only be acquired by personal involvement in practicing diligently but not through books. There is no benefit for you to read too much books. Instead, they will confuse you. YiQuan training theories are simple, the right instructions are written by Master Yao in these correspondence courses. They are the most complete that you can find in any place; just follow these instructions, even in the beginning you couldn't do them correctly, but keep on practicing them, then you will realize their importance and you will notice progressively the changes in your body but also in your overall perception of things, even in sparring applications... You are unfortunately not in China but Master will answer to any technical question you may ask.
Q: What are the costs of each correspondence course?
A: For the four parts of correspondence course, you recommend you to other them directly through PAYPAL online payment system. Each part can be ordered for US$75. It is fast and secure.
In case you really cannot order through Paypal, send your payment to Master Yao for each part of course. That is to say, for a total of 4 training parts US$300, including additional currency conversion fee. You could pay it through
Bank of China or through cheques to him directly (master Yao's
address ). Master Yao should receive your payment from Bank of China two months later after you have sent your payment cheque to him .
Some information about payment from my friend also student Bert from USA as followed, please check from your bank to get your best way: "I checked with a local bank and they charge for international wiring of money according to how much you are sending. Locally, it was $12USD for up to $800USD sent, $10USD for $800-1000USD, $8USD for $1000-2000USD and no charge for $2000USD and above. They convert the money into RMB (Chinese dollar) first then make the transfer over to the Bank of China. For someone sending $45USD, this would not be too economical. However, if they sent $180USD, maybe they might not mind spending the $12USD, which comes out to 15%. Frankly, I think the course is worth every penny! I am sure that prices probably vary around the US and so it would be best if the sender checked with their local banks or other money transfer companies. I also checked with Western Union, but they charge $33USD for sending $180USD, quite a difference in charges. From talking with others who send money back to China, they say the Chinese banks don't care too much for traveler's checks unless you are there to sign in person. They say this is because they are easy to forge. Money orders, checks and international drafts are acceptable, but they tell me that there is a transaction fee that the Bank of China charges whether you cash or deposit them. No one could tell me how long it took for the money orders and drafts to clear." Thanks Bert for your practical information.
Q: As I am in Hong Kong, may I just deposit the equivalent Hong Kong currency of my order into Master Yao's bank account so that I don't have to proceed any further currency conversion.
A: Yes, it will work. Master Yao said that he can receive all currency accepted by the Bank-of-China. So it's no matter to pay with HK yuan or US dollar, of course, including also European Euro. Other types of currency please check with your nearest Bank-of-China agency
.
Q: I read somewhere that you can actually become skilled in YiQuan, including for combat purposes, in a relatively short period of time -- such as 2-3 years. Is that true?
A: You can even be skilled after 3 months and if you learn directly from Master Yao, and if you are in good shape. Professional combat students can even start sparring exercises in the second month of training.
Q: Will master Yao visit U.S. or Europe to teach for further overseas seminar?
A: Master Yao has visited Italy last year. More seminars may be planned in Europe or U.S., we will inform you regularly about overseas seminar conducted by master Yao..
For more questions, you may ask directly to Master Yao or participate to the
forums.
